Mike, Tommy and Kevin actually do some research. They figure out what the articles written about the Ducks actually say and break them down with their journalistic eyes. They also theorize on how the media affects the Ducks’ psyche.

Show notes:

Let’s Play Hockey: Real magazine.

Article No. 1: Ducks tie Cardinals, 2-2:

(Notice “Germaine” spelled wrong in the headline.)

The inside article: “Panthers season in jeopardy”, with a story on the mysterious Adam Garin.

First of all, those articles sound more like editorials rather than news items, don’t they? I’m not a journalist but they didn’t stick to the who-what-when-where-why-how format that I expect from news.

Anyway, it’s nice that they made a bit of effort in the beginning to put some ‘articles’ in, instead of just copy-pasting pictures and headlines. But obviously, they settled with doing just that in the later articles.

The one with the pioneers thing, which didn’t have an author, apparently (you didn’t mention any name) is definitely just filler text that no one made an effort to change. That article had nothing to do with Ducks or Hornets, and had everything to do with some team called Pioneers(?) which is not a team in the peewee hockey league, as listed in Hans’ blackboard.

You probably know this by now (since you are done with ep 93, and I am just here at ep 5), but I looked through the all cast and crew list at IMDB (for the first film) and found the following crew names:
    Film editing by:
    Larry Bock
    John F. Link
    Editorial department:
Rebekah Rudd (first assistant editor) – not sure if this is spelled the same way as the first author you mentioned, but it’s the closest one I found.

…Looked at your pictures and saw the name Lyle Mayer on the pioneers article and he is listed with Rebekah under the Editorial department as apprentice editor. I can’t really read the other names.

    Lastly…
Kevin – you really like this drug conspiracy thing, don’t you? =P And why do you see Banks in such a bad light? It makes me a bit sad. =(
Thanks to Tommy for having a little more faith.
