Via The Wayback Machine, this was The Illuminerdi website on June 8. (Mike said July but it was actually captured in June.)
The Illuminerdi said on Dec. 26, 2019 that they had an exclusive that Watchmen’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was to play a young Morpheus in The Matrix 4. Variety reported in October that Abdul-Mateen had landed a lead role back in October. Variety speculated that it could be young Morpheus but nothing was confirmed. The Illuminerdi’s “Exclusive” was essentially that it was indeed the role Abdul-Mateen was playing. This is not a long stretch, and wouldn’t be a bad educated guess. Their article makes zero mention of any sourcing.
Again, Steve Brill said he could neither “confirm nor deny…yet” and, “honestly it is still up in the air.”
