Michael Ooms (McGill) needs your help with his cancer costs

Other stuff · August 16, 2021

UPDATE: Michael Ooms passed away on January 18, 2022

The character McGill — played by Michael Ooms — might’ve been a douche, but he’s given us so much joy. From the “My Job” meme to our hypothetical Halloween specials, McGill has played a huge part in our podcast.

Now McGill needs our help.

Michael Ooms, the actor who played the legend, was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer. It has spread to six organs, including his brain, according a GoFundMe page set up to help cover his medical costs.

As of this posting, Donna Stallings, Ooms’ wife, raised ~$29,700 of her $30,000 goal. (We are donating the last few months of revenue from the pod to cause, so by the time you read this it might be above the goal, but we’re sure they could use anything you can provide even if the goal is reached.)

Ooms played McGill in D1 and D2. He acted alongside his mom, Claudia Wilkins, in the first movie. (She was the principal who told Bombay “all of them” when he came to the school. She was also a teacher in D3.)

While the Ducks films are his only credits on IMDB, Ooms continued acting, and was a mainstay in the Minnesota theater community until cancer took away his ability to work.

Stallings has continued to update Ooms’ condition with updates on the GoFundMe page, with the most recent coming on August 3.

No pod this week again unfortunately. Tommy had to drop last minute, Kevin is dealing with life things. Mike was trying to make it work but needs to focus on other things.

Gunnar Stahl had no lines in our most recent minute. But did he do enough to earn MVP anyway? https://thequackattack.com/mighty-ducks-minute-no-203-the-almost-climax-of-the-d2-shootout/
