More info:
Disney made it official on Monday, announcing that Mighty Ducks: Game Changers had been renewed for a second season.
According to Disney production is scheduled to begin in Early 2022.
That’s a long wait time for everybody, which was likely extended due to the pandemic.
Game Changers shot it’s pilot pre-pandemic in Vancouver, paused shooting for a while, and then resumed under significantly different conditions to finish out the first season. As a result sets from the first season were demolished instead of being preserved for possible additional seasons. It’s likely that the extra time is needed to build and re-build sets.
Creator Steve Brill said it did limit the amount of human contact within the shooting and resulted in just one kiss in the first season which came in the finale.
The upended shooting schedule also limited cameos. It was difficult getting people across tightened international borders.
